David Thorn letter to the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia [manuscript], 1841 Nov 2.

Thorn writes to present to the University of Virginia copy of Aesop's Fables translated into Chinese [Canton, 1838] by his brother, Robert Thorn, "at present one of His Britannic Majesty's interpreters in China, under the pseudonym of Sloth;" a copy of a Chinese tale, entitled "The lasting resentment of Miss Keaou Lwan Wang" also translated by Robert Thorn; and, "The assurance of faith, or, Calvinism identified with Universalism" by David Thorn. Thorn concludes with comments and praise of the Chinese translation of Aesop made by various scholars.
